MARIA BRENNAN, of Wantagh, speaks at an event supporting extension of the NY Property Tax Cap. Brennan explained how prior to the tax cap her taxes increased 10% in one year. At the bi-partisan Press Conference at Knights of Columbus Hall, over a hundred area residents and officials, urged extending the property tax cap before the state legislative session ends on June 17. The NY Property Tax Cap is set to expire June 2016, but is legally linked to NYC rent-control regulations set to expire this month. Brennan also explained high taxes can make it harder for people to afford to volunteer. Brennan introduced the NYS governor at the event, and she is a member of CERT the Community Emergency Response Team, the Wantagh-Seaford Homeowners' Association, and other volunteer groups.
