Garden City, New York, U.S. November 21, 2013. An illustration, with art by Michael Carroll, showing the relative sizes of the 2013 DA14 asteroid, half as big as a football field and large enough to level a city, and the Chelyabinsk Meteor which struck Russia, was shown during lecture by NASA Astronaut R. Schweickart, 1969 Apollo 9 Lunar Module LM Pilot, at Legends of Air and Space event at Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island. Schweickart, a co-founder of the Association of Space Explorers and of the B612 Foundation, spoke on the importance of defending Earth from asteroid impacts.
