Schweickart, a co-founder of the Association of Space Explorers and of the B612 Foundation, spoke on the importance of defending Earth from asteroid impacts. The mission of the proposed Sentinel telescope, which is in development, is to catalog 90% of asteroids with diameters larger than 140 metres.
