January 3, 2013 - Mineola, New York, U.S. - The Nassau County Districting Advisory Commission holds a night time meeting on two Redistricting maps for the 19 Legislative Districts, one proposed by Republicans, one by Democrats. In the standing room only chambers, dozens shared their views with the commission during the Public Comment segment. After a brief recess, the commission voted at 10:40 PM for each map, neither of which passed. By January 5 it must complete its work for the Nassau Legislature, which must pass a Redistricting map by March 5, 2013. This large painting, which has "Nassau County Legislature, One Person One Vote" at top, is in the room right outside the chambers, and was a gift to the Legislature from the children of Woodland Middle School in East Meadow Public School, NY.
